A Trading System for FOMC Day in the Tradestation Training Education Course

We go over a trading system for FOMC Days that we reveal in the following video. This strategy uses a function DontTradeOnFOMC that lists the dates back to 2016 for FOMC Days and allows us to easily test ideas based on trading on FOMC or not trading on FOMC.

The DontTradeOnFOMC Function has been updated through 2025 and can be downloaded from Lesson 17 in the Tradestation Training Education Course.

This trading system is a hypothetical example and represents an extreme bias to the upside based on massive monetary policy that has injected massive liquidity into the system. Longer term, I anticipate mean reversion around this long only bias on Fed days when historically, there has been more chop than trend. The function in the Tradestation Training Education Course allows traders to quickly test their own ideas.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has scheduled the following meetings for 2025:

  • January 28–29

  • March 18–19 *

  • May 6–7

  • June 17–18 *

  • July 29–30

  • September 16–17 *

  • October 28–29

  • December 9–10 *

Meetings marked with an asterisk (*) are associated with a Summary of Economic Projections.
