Sharpe Ratio added to Portfolio Calculator

Capstone Trading

The Portfolio Calculator has been updated through 7/25/2024 and now includes the Annualized Sharpe Ratio.

I don't put a lot of weight on the Sharpe Ratio but it is a popular metric. The Risk Free Rate of Return can be adjusted as well as the account size used to make the calculation.

The Portfolio Calculator is a tool that can show the combined equity curve analysis of all the trading systems. Most individual day trade strategies that trade somewhat frequently (10 times per month), have a low sharpe ratio of less than .5 when testing them for 15+ years When we combine many different strategies that are very diverse, the annualized sharpe ratio of the combination is much higher.

In this example, we see a 130 strategy portfolio with and annualized sharpe ratio of 2.73 through July 25, 2024, testing back to 2008.

The main concept here and one we continue to see, is that, the best way to improve a trading systems portfolio can be using diverse groups of trading systems.

These are hypothetical performance results in our database of strategies.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.
