Trading System Signals on 02-02-2026

The easiest trade on Monday was to simply buy the NQ at the open and sell 50 minutes later at 10:20. The NQ futures high at 10:21 was 25,912.25 and the afternoon high was 25949.50. The market mostly chopped around after 10:20 with only a 37.25 point extension in the afternoon with some fast and sharp pullbacks. We published this research yesterday on how the afternoon extension of range has been at its lowest levels December 2025 - January 2026 since August 2021.

After the market closed and the futures re-opened at 5pm CST, the overnight stock index session quickly rallied by the amount that I had anticipated the day session should have rallied which would have benefited our long day trade strategies that closed at the end of the day session.

This is a new pattern that is probably not the new normal. When you have several strategies that wait for confirmation of a trend and the entire day is over at 10:20, it is more challenging for those strategies to capture the gains. An example of this type of strategy is Gap Continuation 2024.
