10 of 11 Trading Gold Futures on Jobs Friday

Capstone Trading

SR CounterTrend went 10 for 11 in Gold yesterday. There are some important details and observations for trading Gold Futures on Jobs Friday.

1.) The entry and profit targets were hit within 3 seconds on some of the SR CounterTrend Golds. If you refresh the chart, you still see a winner but on a bar later in the day. You can use look inside bar backtesting down to 1 tick/1 second to see the profit target on the same bar.

2.) Should we expand the profit target on some of these strategies to capture potential breakouts in Gold? Even though we were 10 for 11, capturing only $5 on a $50 move is okay, but we can potentially boost gains if we expand the profit target on a few of these.

3.) Discussion on the $111 gain Gold futures this week based on the settlement from last Friday through todays close at 1700 EST. SR CounterTrend Gold 2024 Active capture $40 of it simply day trading. Holding longer term positions could provide us with the potential gains to capture bigger moves but could also increase account volatility and risk.

4.) A consideration of waiting until after 7:30 to trade on days where the 7:30 economic releases generate flashy moves. This is difficult to test but is on the list.

Everyday there are new observations that could potentially make our strategies better.

The daily trading system signals will be published later this weekend or Monday with the updated Portfolio Calculator. The One Million MNS 110 was down about -1.7% yesterday after being up 2.0% Thursday. We are waiting for the right time to enter live trades this quarter and have not started live yet.
